{A Harbour Wedding} David & Marie: A Sneak Peek

Earlier this year, before what I've come to refer to as the 'Madness of May', I had the pleasure of covering a wedding in Musselburgh, in a lovely harbour-side venue called The Quay.

It was a beautiful spring day and, although a tad on the breezy side, thankfully, the sun shone for us - there were even a couple of rainbows just before and after the ceremony.

Marie was a beautiful bride and David was the ever-calm and collected Groom, both were an absolute pleasure to work with and their beautiful little girl, Connie, added an added touch of gorgeousness to an impecibly brought together wedding day.

It is worth noting that Marie made all her table-pieces by hand... an art I'm constantly in awe of.  Stunning.

Their shots may soon feature on a beautiful commercial blog so I can't give too much away but here's a wee sneaky-peek.

Congratulations again to David & Marie!

Rachael

Today's Portraiture feature is all about the stunning Rachael.

Rachael was someone I had wanted to work with for a long while.  I had an inkling that the she would be amazingly photogenic.  Her bone-structure is perfect and she chose to take on the classic look.

We decided to go for a 1950's feel with her photos and mirrored the modern with the authentic old style.  Rachael was a natural and the feel of her shoot really came through in her photographs.

She is someone who is always laughing, doesn't take herself too seriously and is never frightened to take a risk so it was really lovely to be able to delve into a more serious side of things with the her in front of the camera.

Here are a few of the breath-taking results...

A massive thank you and lots of love goes to Rach for being a part of the launch.

Alison

For my third installment of the Portraiture Launch, I'm featuring someone very special.

Alison was the youngest to take part in the launch and she was one of the first.

Much like the other folks, she hadn't had an experience like this one before, and given her age (16... almost 17 now) she was an absolute treat to shoot.  She really relaxed into the shoot and was able to pull some perfect poses with an ease beyond her years.

Alison adores Twilight but her heart truly lies with Harry so, with her shoot, we set out to capture a few shots that would show just that little hint of magic.

She was a star and we had a lot of fun.  I had some props and costume on set and she really committed to the Alter-Ego part of the day.

Alison is currently studying for her standard grade exams and consistently aces the board with 1's and A's - she has a fantastic singing voice to boot.

As I think you'll agree when having checked-out her shoot, this is one young woman to keep an eye out for...

Lots of love and massive thanks goes to Alison for being such a superstar and really pulling it out the bag.

Amy

For the second installment of my Portraiture launch from 2011, I'd like to show off the beautiful Amy..

Amy was one of the first to sign up when I sent out the word that I wanted to do this and she brought along another beauty & one of her best friends,  Lara (seperate feature to come soon).

It was a freeeeeezing, snow-coated day when we did the shoot and Amy was a star - she must've been frozen but you would never know it!  She wore a borrowed vintage jacket and the rest was her own.

We took a few studio-style alter-ego shots inside afterwards.  It was all very glamorous & great fun, really in fitting with the girl's style.

For someone who is actually quite shy in front of a camera, I was so pleased with the laughter and fun Amy had on the shoot - she really came out of her shell.

These are but a few of the end results...

Lots n lots of love and thanks goes to Amy for lending me herself for the day and being so brave as to take part, bearing the freeeeeeezing cold and posing with poise ever so well.

Stevography...

Throughtout the course of 2011, I launched a new element to my Portraiture portfolio - Alter-Ego & 'Reel-You' Portraits.  A few of my favourite people hopped on board and got their gladrags and favourite props out to pose in front of my lens.

Over the course of the next few posts I'm going to feature a few of them one at a time (didn't feel it right to block them all in together) so to kick it all of, I'll start with a particular favourite of mine - Steve.

Steve's mad for photography of most kinds, but his heart specifically lies with Lomography - a passion in which I, myself also share.

When I asked Steve which angle he'd like to take on for the shoot, he was pretty flexible but having had a look around his place there was no way I wasn't going to incorporate his lomos and his own unique collection of shots taken on them.

He pulled out a few of his best bits from the wardrobe too and we got shooting.

These were the results....

Thanks goes to Steve for being part of the Portraiture launch.
